Welcome to People Protect People (PPP), a community-powered personal safety app that helps users send and respond to SOS alerts within a 5 km radius.We are committed to protecting your privacy and follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Information We Collect
• Account Information: Phone number or email for authentication.
• Profile Information: Name, email, city, province, country, and profile picture for personalised user experience. These fields are optional and not mandatory to use this app.
• Location Data: Your approximate location is processed only when you actively use safety-related features, such as creating or responding to an alert. Location data is not continuously tracked and is used solely to determine proximity to nearby alerts and responders.
• Alert Information: Notes, optional photos, and audio when you create an alert
• Device Information: Push notification tokens (for delivering alerts).
People Protect People is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.
2. How We Use the Data
We use your data to:
• Display nearby alerts and responders,
• Send relevant notifications,
• Maintain safety and prevent abuse, and Improve app reliability and performance.
We never sell your personal data.
Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data based on one or more of the following legal grounds under GDPR:
• Your consent (for optional profile information, media uploads, and permissions),
• Performance of a contract (to provide core safety features of the app),
• Legitimate interests (to ensure platform safety, prevent abuse, and maintain system integrity), and
• Legal obligations (where data must be retained temporarily to comply with applicable law).
3. Account Deletion & Data Retention
Deleting Your Account
You may delete your account at any time from within the app.
When you confirm account deletion:
• Your authentication credentials are removed immediately.
• Your user profile is permanently deleted.
• You are signed out and returned to the onboarding experience.
This action cannot be undone.
What Happens to Your Data After Deletion
Because People Protect People is a safety-focused application, certain limited records may be retained temporarily and in a restricted form to support safety, abuse prevention, and legal obligations.
Immediately Deleted
• Authentication account
• Personal profile information (name, photo, phone number)
• Direct identifiers linking you to app activity
Anonymized on Deletion
• Responses to safety alerts are pseudonymized, removing any link to your identity while preserving the integrity of the incident record.
• Feedback submissions are anonymized.
Temporarily Retained (Sealed & Restricted)
The following data may be retained for up to 30 days after account deletion:
• Safety alert media (such as photos you uploaded)
• Group chat messages related to closed alerts
• A sealed internal identifier used solely for:
• Safety moderation
• Abuse prevention
• Responding to lawful requests from authorities
These records:
• Are not visible to other users
• Are not accessible through the app
• Are restricted to server-side systems only
• Are automatically deleted after the retention period expires
Legal Holds
In rare cases where a verified legal obligation exists (for example, a lawful request from authorities), certain sealed records may be retained beyond the standard retention period.
When a legal hold is applied:
• Data remains sealed and access-restricted
• Retention lasts only as long as legally required
• All retained data is deleted once the obligation ends
Automatic Cleanup
People Protect People uses automated systems to ensure data is removed on schedule:
• Group chat messages are deleted 30 days after an alert is closed
• Alert media is deleted 30 days after an alert is closed
• Sealed identifiers are permanently removed once retention ends
• No manual action is required by the user
Privacy Commitment
We are committed to:
• Collecting only what is necessary for safety
• Retaining data only for defined and limited periods
• Preventing unauthorized access to retained records
• Providing transparency about how deletion works

4. Data Sharing
Your data may be shared only with:
• Firebase (Google LLC) for secure hosting and notifications, and
• Authorities, only if required by applicable law or a valid legal request.

5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
• Access and review your personal data
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
• Delete your account and personal data at any time through the app
• Withdraw consent where applicable
Account deletion can be initiated directly within the app. Once confirmed, your account and personal profile data are deleted. Certain safety-related data may be retained temporarily in a restricted form, as described in Section 3 (Account Deletion & Data Retention).

6. Abuse Prevention
To protect users and prevent misuse, PPP keeps limited technical records such as:
• The number of alerts you send and how often you send them
• Whether an alert was reported by others as false or abusive
• General counts of how many people received or viewed an alert
All abuse detection is based only on in-app activity and community feedback and never on personal content or location history outside an active alert.
Our automated moderation system may temporarily limit or suspend an account that repeatedly sends alerts flagged by other users. These actions are based on aggregated, anonymized signals (for example, how many verified users nearby reported an alert).
You may contact us to request a review if you believe a moderation action was applied incorrectly.
7. Security
All data is securely stored.
Only you can modify your personal account through the app. Authorized PPP administrators may access or modify account data only when required for safety, legal compliance, or upon your verified request.
8. Consent and User Control
Consent
By creating an account or using People Protect People, you consent to the collection and processing of your data as described in this Privacy Policy. Permissions (such as location, notifications, camera, or microphone) are requested explicitly and can be managed through your device settings.
Withdrawal of Consent
You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account or contacting hello@peopleprotectpeople.com. Some data may be retained temporarily where required for safety or legal obligations.
