Frequently asked questions

Is People Protect People (PPP) an emergency service?

No. People Protect People (PPP) is not an emergency service or dispatcher.
It does not monitor alerts, send professionals, or guarantee a response. If you are in immediate danger, call 112 right away.

PPP supports you alongside emergency services by creating local awareness.

If PPP is not an emergency service, what is it then?

PPP helps you not be alone when something doesn’t feel right.

You can send an SOS alert to people within 5 km when you feel unsafe or need help.
People nearby are aware of your situation and can decide how to help.
PPP works based on location, wherever there is an internet connection.

Who can see my alert and my location?

Only signed-in users within 5 km are notified. Your exact address is never shared.
Others see only an approximate location and distance, and only while the alert is active. If you move, the app asks for your permission before updating your location.

No permission = no change.

What happens after I send an SOS?

You can:

  • See how many people were notified
  • See live response numbers and how people are helping
  • Chat with people who want to help
  • Update or close your alert anytime
  • Let it auto-end after ~20 minutes if you forget

Nearby users can:

  • Get a notification or see your alert in the Nearby Alert section
  • View your alert detail and choose how to help
  • See where you are and get closer if needed
  • Chat with you for safe coordination

Do I need friends or contacts on the app for it to work?

No. PPP does not use friends, followers, or contact lists. It works on proximity, so help can come from people nearby, even strangers.

When should I use PPP instead of calling emergency services directly?

Always call 112 first if you feel unsafe or at risk.
PPP is helpful when:

  • You want people nearby to be aware
  • Help is on the way, but you don’t want to feel alone
  • Others being alert could make a difference

PPP adds human presence to moments that can otherwise feel isolating.

Do I need to pay to use the app?

No. PPP is free to download and use.

The app uses your internet connection, so standard data charges may apply.
The emergency call button opens your phone’s normal dialer to call 112, just like a regular emergency call.
